I don’t go to the gym with a full stomach, because it lowers my energy level during muscle contraction. I eat 2-3 hours before a workout and eat more carbs in this meal to have energy during the whole workout. My typical before workout meal looks like this: 60 grams of oat, 15 grams of honey and 30 grams of Beyond Yourself Whey Isolate in a shake.
Immediately after the workout, I drink a shake with 60 grams of dextrose (a simple sugar), 40 grams of protein, 5 grams of creatine, 5 grams of glutamine and 5 grams of bcaa. 30 to 60 minutes, I have a meal with 50 grams of carbs from oat or brown rice and 113 grams of broccolis.
